I suffer from travel sickness - trains are fine, boats are fine, cars are ok if I'm driving or if I have the window open... coaches, buses, planes (just a little bit) are not... yeeeuuch! So I guess The Wagon falls into the second category. Yes, for a little while I had to get off The Wagon. Well, I had a good reason (apart from sickness) - it was my birthday at the weekend & we went to the Knitting & Stitching show at Alexandra Palace in London. We had a fab day out - it was HU-A-MUNGOUS! I've been to the show at Olympia, London a couple of times now & thought that was large enough, but Ally Pally was around 3 or 4 times as big! Unfortunately, it was such a long ride on the tube (25 stops) from where we park the car, that we didn't actually get there until nearly midday. Then we spent the next few hours wandering around, jostling amongst the large crowd (and boy, did we have to jostle sometimes!) & oohing & aahing at all the wonderful models & stitching toys on display. I was reasonably good - my friend that I went with is a relatively new stitcher & she has now been totally & utterly bitten by the stitching bug! She bought more stash than me. She would have bought more, until I warned her that she would pay around half if she ordered it from the USA ;o) I did succumb to a few charts though - 2 Mirabilias - the brand new Lilly of the Woods & The Dreamer (which I've been admiring for some time) and 3 Patricia Anns - A Frosty Morning, Silver Frost & Twilight Star. I'd never even noticed Patricia Ann before & one stall had lots of models which were absolutely beautiful! Very pretty & delicate, with some lovely stitching, threads & treasures. We were exhausted by the time we got home, but very happy indeed :o)
I did receive a nice stitchy gift for my birthday - Chatelaine's Taj Mahal kit from European XS, which, if you have read my blog before, you may remember I persuaded my Dad to buy for me :o) Its lovely - the silkies are gorgeous & very strokable! I'm working on a little sampler right now, but am nearly finished and once I do.... I'll be setting off on my Indian adventure.
I'm proud to say I'm now back on the wagon for the foreseeable future.... but Christmas is just 9 weeks away y'know. ;o)

You are definitely allowed to jump off the wagon for your birthday! That's when I'm taking a HUGE leap off...but that's a few months away.
I'm so jealous...another person with the new fairy! I've never been to a stitching show before, it sounds like a lot of fun...sounds like you found some nice things and it must be so nice to see all the models.
Anyway, your hop of the wagon will help you stay on until the next bout of travel sickness :)

I leaped from the wagon earlier than planned too. It didn't take long, I'm weak, what can I say?
Technically, it was DH's fault and he paid for it as one of my gifts (either Christmas or birthday). It still feels like cheating though!
I'm jealous too! I want the new fairy - wah! (Sorry for the whining - I spend all day with a newborn-lol!) I think I will have to go to the Nashville show next time (I'm in Memphis). All this stash in one place just sounds like too much fun!
