An anxious time

Sorry, I've not been around the blog world very much lately. I have felt so physically drained lately, I just tend to collapse on the sofa when I get home with no energy for anything! Anyway, I'm here now after a most emotional day. Very recently I found a small lump in the area between my breast & underarm. Now, grown-up woman that I am(!), I am always absolutely petrified of going to see my doctor & only go when it is really, really necessary. This was obviously one of those times. So I went to see my doctor this morning & she was fabulous, very reassuring. We all have 'the dreaded C' in the very back of our minds, don't we? I'm very lucky in that breast cancer hasn't affected anyone to date in my family, so thought it was unlikely. However, that didn't stop me quaking like a jelly in the waiting room before I went in. Thankfully my doctor thought it was probably a slight infection in my lymph glands, left over from when I had tonsilitus a couple of months ago. She said it should be fine & just to be safe, she asked me to go back in a couple of weeks time to double check. Andy accompanied me to the surgery & the look of relief on my face when I came out must have been a picture! I've had a few days of worrying & now feel so lucky. Having worked with a lady in my previous job who was going through breast cancer, I know how hard her struggle was. She is now fine as it was picked up early & she has had successful treatment, so please - anyone who is reading this & isn't sure of any lumps & bumps that might have appeared, please please please go & get yourself checked out to be safe.
Thanks to everyone who comments on my blog & thanks also to those who simply read what I waffle on about - I appreciate all my visitors & just wanted to tell you all!

*whew* What a relief!! You've had so much going on, you most definitely did not need any extra issues.

And yeah, when I get sick, I get that same lump in the same place. It's happened often enough now that I just don't think about it when it shows up again, and there have been a few times where the sore armpit is the only indication that anything is amiss.

As you know Sam I had my scare a couple of months ago and it is an awful feeling isn't it. Good on you for getting it checked as so many don't and the majority of the time it isn't anything but if god forbid it is no one can afford to wait. Weirdly I have had a low grade virus lately too and had the same thing with my arm pit. I wasn't too worried as it was the same side I just had checked and then it went but anything abnormal in our bodies is enough to freak anyone out. HUGS to you and now I think a little shopping splurge is in order lol. :-)

Fingers crossed sam that your doctor is right. {hugs}
You are so right about checking...one of my colleages is having her final lot of nearly a year's treatment since discovering a lump in October last year. she is only 28.
Take care hun. {hugs}

Sorry about your scare. I had one myself last year. I started to get stabbing, electric-like pains in my breast. It got to the point where I couldn't even lightly brush against it with my own arm or it would set off a terrible sharp pain. I went to the doctor, and she found a lump. Went for a mammogram AND and ultrasound, and they found absolutely nothing. Not even the lump the doctor felt. I never bothered me again. Weird, huh?? Sometimes we just get funny things that turn out to be absolutely nothing. But they can be Oh so scary. {{ hugs }}

Well done for going for a check instead of burying your head in the sand and what a relief that's it's almost certainly nothing!

Take good care of yourself :)

What a relief...things like that are so scary! I had a lump removed a few years ago, fortunately it turned out to be benign but I know just how frightening things like that are....lots of {{hugs}} coming your way Sam!

I had a lump for years, the doctor kept telling me I was lumpy.

As soon as I became pregnant that lump went and it's never appeared again.

I do still worry about it though.

Glad to hear all is ok for you.
